Sil Lim Tau is the first hand set learned in the Wing Chun system. Contained within this seemingly simple form are many principles and ideas that form the heart of Wing Chun, and it is only throuh observing and practicing these principles in Sil Lim Tau that students will learn how to effectivly apply these principles in fighting. Chum Kiu - taught to generate power through body shifting, the use of footwork, and the theory of two-directional force. This form train the hands moving independently of each other in a supporting role as well as being coordinated with body shifting and stepping. The first two kicks of Wing Chun, "thrusting kick" and "lifting kick" are also introduced in this form.
The spinning motions learned in Chum Kiu generate additional force by rooting into the ground and to redirect your opponent's strike to both deflect their energy and move them into a less favorable position.

Originating from the Shaolin Temple, Lok Dim Boon Gwan was added to Wing Chun by Wong Wa Bo and Leung Ye Tay, who took the Shaolin Pole techniques and applied Wing Chun principles, such as centerline theory, economy of motion, and chew ying (facing). This pole form uses a heavy nine foot pole (and sometimes longer) that tapers down to an inch at one end.It is unique in Wing Chun as it uses two Shaolin stances not found elsewhere in the system, Horse stance and Cat stance. The pole form itself consists of six and a half individual strikes. The techniques are very fast and powerful, striking directly toward your opponent with no wasted motion. Lok Dim Boon Gwan training can also greatly increase the stability of stances, body movements, thrusting power, and strengthens the fingers, wrists, arms, shoulders, and upper body.

Biu Gee translates as "thrusting fingers" which is the third and the most advanced hand form in the Wing Chun style. The techniques in Biu Gee are simple, but the deep levels of theories behind them are kept secret. Biu Gee has a unique explosive character with rapid turning of the entire body to genreate powerful and ligntning fast strikes. Biu Gee form is structured with ten sections. In this instruction video, Master Chan explains the theories and applications in each section, and also includes several Gung Lik training exercises to help you develop the speed and power in order to perform Biu Gee properly.

In the Bak Jom Dao weapon form, the pair of knives act as a extensions of the hands, utilizing the techniques learned in the hands forms. This weapon set introduces new body weighting and retreating and advancing footwork. Practice of the Bak Jom Dao can also improve wrist strength and overall mobility in combat, and can also improve Chi Sau skills by applying knife techniques into Chi Sau.
